It’s not couch blankets, but my son is obsessed with blankets and has about 4-5 of them in regular rotation. 2 of them are enormous fleece blankets, like queen sized, and before I got new laundry machines I used to have to go to the laundromat to wash them. Now I have big enough laundry machines that I can wash TWO big blankets together, and the joy that it brings me really can’t be overstated. Since my son is 14 and stinky, those blankets really do need regular washing. I use Rockin’ Green Active Wear laundry detergent and the last time I washed them I put vinegar in the rinse to try to get rid of both smell and cat hair.

My pro tip for laundry detergent sheets (I use the ones from Grove): if you're nervous about them dissolving, put it in a mesh bag like you'd use for delicates! That way if they don't dissolve, the only thing that gets gunky is the bag and you can tell right away.

I am putting off vacuuming the refrigerator compressor, even as my fridge thermometer is climbing a bit higher. I have to get up on a step ladder because the compressor is above the cabinet-depth monster fridge (bought by previous owners). When I rented homes, I think I did this once. Now, it's at least twice a year. It takes me under 15 minutes but the AGONY of STANDING ON A STEP LADDER with a DYSON.

About Arm & Hammer laundry sheets: I use some pretty blah, eco-friendly laundry sheets when traveling, but we're not very spill-y so I haven't truly put them to a challenging test. I avoid a lot of mainstream laundry detergents after getting a rash from Tide. Am I brave enough to buy A&H fragrance free? Maybe. A few of the Amazon reviews say that their kids didn't get rashes from it. I'll wait for your review.

Hooray clean couch blankets! I washed ours (family life == more than one couch blanket, in our house) earlier this month because I had been putting it off for a while as well.

Still haven't cleaned and rearranged the cabinets in the dining room though. The glass is very fingerprinted etc. from small hands, and I know it will be fine, but ugh, effort.

I was intrigued by laundry detergent sheets when they came out, but I'm still having trouble understanding why they're supposed to be more eco-friendly than my cardboard box of powder. Is it the specific surfactants and detergents? Is it greenwashing?

Some have more eco friendly ingredients than certain boxes of powder (like 7th generation versus Tide), but I can't imagine that if you're using the same brand across types that they are particularly different. I only use the sheets when I need to do laundry while traveling. I feel like they are targeting people who use liquid soap and pods based on the ads I get on Instagram.

I am putting off going through the pantry. So much expired canned stuff in there but a) Covid hoarding is apparently hard to stop and b) I’d have to involve the roommates and just can’t bear to deal with the coordination!

I’ve been using laundry sheets for a few years now and switch between Tru Earth and Good Juju, both unscented, depending on where I’m shopping. My husband, who has super sensitive skin, hasn’t had any issues and the other only time they don’t dissolve is when I don’t throw them in the back of the machine and they get stuck to the door. I also generally wash in cold water.

This is a bit random but does anyone know how to clean painted wood cabinetry? Ours gets greasy finger marks that don't want to come off and our cleaners used windex on them so now I also have 'stains'(??) from the spray. The makers recommend water and a microfiber cloth, which does nothing on older stains.

I believe dish soap works well. I've used it (thinned out with water of course) when cleaning the bookcases that were in my kitchen.

DAWN POWER WASH.

I am in the cult of Power Wash. I’d dampen a microfiber cloth and spray a little Dawn on the damp cloth and gently rub the greasy stains, let them sit for a minute and then wipe clean with a microfiber dampened with plain water. I probably would not spray the power wash directly on the paint since it might damage the finish like it sounds like the Windex did.

What are windex stains? Are they places where the paint is faded where the windex was sprayed?

I love the Cif cream! I have a black silgranit sink and other cleaners left a whitish cast on it, but not Cif.

I love the way the regular blue Dawn smells. Do the scented Dawns also have that smell plus the added scent? Was that the middle note in the cranberry scented one?
