This makes me feel better because I feel like I'm always cleaning and organizing "just a little", never done. I also can't watch those TikTok resets. Too neurotic, maybe?
Same! But mostly because of the jump cuts. I like to soak in what I'm looking at and by the time I can focus on something it's moved on to the next. I just don't watch any jump cut videos on SM anymore because they're so frustrating to watch.
I was officially influenced by this post (and my Turkish husband who grew up using Cif) and I have to say, Cif is worth it! I agree that the smell is awesome and it was quite easy to clean up both my sink and stovetop. This post reminded me that I used to do a similar nightly reset so I want to get back to that so much I went all over town looking for Cif - I could only find it at Target right now as a collaboration with Scrub Daddy (which will never fail to make me lol). Apparently it used to be sold in the US under the phonetic spelling, Jif, so I’m not sure when that changed back to the Turkish spelling. Anyway, here’s hoping I can keep up with a renewed nightly reset habit!
Glass stove top- I actually like cleaning it! I squeeze a swirl of dish soap over it, then scrub with a natural dish brush. The sudsy swirls are oddly pleasing. Then I wipe it dry with a utility cloth. Voilà!
Okay so I love dish soap — and I actually keep meaning to show you guys my dish soap collection, because it is actually insane and I need to get control of myself — but my issue with dish soap on the glass stovetop is that I feel that even the most sparing amounts leave residue/takes forever to wipe off. So many suds!
Also I should have been more specific about my glasstop problem: There are a bunch of products that are good for weekly or deep cleaning, but I want a perfect spray for daily cleanup, and I haven't found it yet. (I'm hoping to get a "Best Glass Cooktop Cleaners" article assigned so I can get paid to find the thing I want.)
I came here to say something similar. I find dish soap, warm water and a scrubby sponge to be the best way to clean the glass stove top. After soaping it up, I wipe with a wet Swedish dishcloth, sometimes multiple rounds to get rid of all the suds. Then I dry with a clean towel. If there are burnt-on spills, I scrape carefully with a razor blade (sooo satisfying). Sometimes you’d be surprised what spots will come off with the razor blade - they don’t necessarily look like burnt spots, just a spot that is not coming clean, but when you use the razor blade they come right off.
Don’t get me started on how much strife there’s been with my partner over their using the dish towel to wipe schmutz off their hands, so that if I use the same towel to dry the stove, it gets all smear-y again. I finally decided to just take a clean towel out of the drawer every time I need to dry the stove. We have a million towels and it’s probably good to change them out more frequently.
I hate emptying the dishwasher. There’s no solution for this; I just have to emote about it a little bit.
Reading all of your glass cooktop-related comments with interest 👀 I definitely let that go too long in between serious cleanings.
Most dreaded cleaning task: going through the pile of papers/mail
Please tell us about Cif Cream! I am intrigued.
Omg I LOVE Evening "Reset" - why does rebranding it make it sound more appealing??

I am very proud of my clean glass stovetop!!
